Overview

In this pre-recorded session, participants will explore how reflection, vulnerability, and relational safety create the foundation for authentic equity, inclusion, and belonging in early learning environments.

Through guided reflection and practical examples, educators will examine how embracing discomfort, acknowledging mistakes, and engaging in courageous conversations can strengthen relationships and foster more inclusive practices.

Participants will be invited to reflect on their own role in advancing equity, learn strategies for creating Brave Space Agreements, and discover approaches to facilitating reflective conversations where every voice is valued and respected.

This session offers practical tools and meaningful insights that can be applied immediately to build more human-centered, reflective, and inclusive teams and learning communities.

Meet the instructor

Maha Abbas

Maha is a Curriculum Coordinator with PLASP Child Care Services, supporting over 240 programs through coaching, resource development, and professional learning initiatives.

She has worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and school age children in full-day licensed child care and before and after school programs. 

Maha believes education is political, where educators become social justice advocates for children and families. She believes true learning is rooted in relationships, where creativity, identity, and belonging can be nurtured and brought to life.
